Mississauga, ON – A team of 32 Sutton Group – Signature Realty sales associates, owner Mira Tomljenovic, co-partner/broker Debbie Cosic, as well as friends and family raised $6,718 in the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 3, 2004. Over the past four years of participating in this run, they have raised an astounding $27,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This money will be used to fund research as well as to provide care for the thousands of women across Canada who are struggling with the disease. According to the Foundation, 1 in 9 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. This was not merely a statistic for Mira’s team.

“This year, three team members are breast cancer survivors and a larger part of our group run with a special person in mind,” says Mira. “Taking part in this run is our way of showing support and each year proves to be more rewarding with satisfaction.”

More than 30,000 runners, walkers and joggers in downtown Toronto raised $3,713,642 in the 13th annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, exceeding last year’s record of just over $3 million. Toronto is one of 40 communities across Canada in which a Run event took place. Across the country, 170,000 people participated to raise a total of $19.2 million.

Sponsored by CIBC and organized by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation via a network of dedicated volunteers, the Run is the largest single-day fundraiser for breast cancer in Canada. The money raised enables the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to fund research, community health projects, and other programs that will help create a future without breast cancer.

Every step in this 5-kilometre run was one step closer to a cure for countless women. For the team from Sutton Group – Signature Realty, it was a community event that touched their lives and will affect many more for years to come.
