Another Successful Year

Mississauga, ON - On December 13, 2005, Sutton Group – Summit Realty Inc. held the 2nd annual Christmas Luncheon Fundraiser to celebrate the year-long efforts of the Summit Cares Program. The Program raised $9,500 in 2005 for Foodpath’s Breakfast Program, the Interim Place Program, the Canadian Cancer Society, Kids Help Phone Line, and the Children’s Aid Society.

“Summit Cares is an ongoing non-profit program that consists of agents donating a certain amount from all their real estate transactions,” says Vince Carnovale, one of the program’s committee members. Since the Summit Cares Program started in 2004, the office has raised approximately $13,000 for local charities. Other Summit Cares committee members include Heather Sorenson, Belle Jean, Sandy Cruz, Milena Sherland, and Nina Bokor. An ongoing Summit Cares project is the Breakfast Program, one of Foodpath’s Food Distribution Programs, which ensures that no Mississauga child begins his or her school day hungry.

The Interim Place Program is a service for families leaving Foodpath’s shelters and re-establishing themselves in the Peel community. The families have access to a food bank and are provided with a startup order of food and household goods. The Canadian Cancer Society offers a variety of community services and support programs for people living with cancer, their caregivers, family, and friends. Kids Help Phone is run by counsellors who answer calls and questions 24 hours a day for young people across Canada and provide support, information, and referrals. The Children’s Aid Society provides a variety of Child Welfare and Residential Services to children and families in the Peel region.
