Sutton REALTORS® Give Hope to those with Breast Cancer
Richmond, BC – REALTORS® Helen Pettipiece and Anne Piche of Sutton Group – Seafair Realty provided a large contribution to the Nite of Hope, which took place on April 8th, at the River Rock Casino in Richmond. This event, which consists of a dinner, fashion show and silent auction, raises money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Helen and Anne have supported this important night for a number of years.
The Night of Hope, an evening that is dear to both Helen and Anne, has been running for 10 years. The event founder, Judy Miller, began her fundraising for breast cancer research in her home after losing both her mother and young sister-in-law to the disease. Several years later, she decided to organize a large-scale event to increase donations and awareness to the devastating effects of breast cancer. Anne is a founding member of the group that supports this event and Helen has supported the event since its inception. “This evening is close to my heart; having many friends and acquaintances who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, I know that money raised is for research and I believe we will find a cure”, expressed Helen.
Over 450 individuals attended the Nite of Hope, which took place on Tuesday, April 8th at the River Rock Casino. The evening involved an elegant dinner, fashion show and silent auction. Anne and Helen supported the event as Silver Level Corporate Sponsors, contributing $1,500 and purchasing $1,000 worth of tickets. Sutton Group Realty Services Ltd., Sutton Group – West Coast Realty and Owner Greg Rahn also donated to the cause. “This is the 10th year of this event and every year it keeps getting larger and larger”, said Helen. The money raised to date totals over $1,200,000 and this year alone the event raised over $200,000.
Helen and Ann are involved in other parts of the community as well. Helen is a member of the Richmond Hospital Auxiliary and Anne supports Wigs for Kids – a local community-based fundraising event where money raised supports a wig program at BC Children’s Hospital for children undergoing cancer treatment. Helen wants to express to Sutton REALTORS® that “no donation is ever too small and every little bit helps. The more we all do for our community the better a place it will be to live.” She also feels that “we should always look for ways to support our community and organizations that are important to us.” For more information on the Nite of Hope, please visit www.niteofhope.com.
