Sutton Broker’s Generous Spirit Helps Children Locally and Abroad

Picton, ON – Struggling families had breakfast on the table this holiday season thanks to a 9-year-old girl named Ashley and her mother, Linda Middleton, Broker of Record at Sutton Group – Prince Edward County Realty Inc.*. In December, mother and daughter filled the family car to the roof with boxes of Shreddies cereal for the Picton food bank. With supplies of breakfast staples running low, this donation was gratefully accepted. Linda estimates her car was filled with $200 worth of Shreddies, which was enough to fill 60 hampers for families during the holidays.

“It’s always fun to do something a little out of the ordinary,” says Linda. “I wanted to do something for the food bank that was child-related, so Shreddies came to mind since it’s a popular choice among kids and it is healthy.”

Staff and REALTORS® at Sutton Group – Prince Edward County Realty Inc.* also sponsored a Christmas tree at the Festival of Trees to raise money to build a local dog park and contributed to a spaghetti dinner for the local Humane Society just before the holidays. “We like to sponsor events that are directly related to an interest or community project that involves someone in our office. I do believe that our small group works well as a team and we are making an impact in the community.”

As a mother and stepmother to eight children, Linda has a special place in her heart for young people near and far. Last year, on a family vacation in Mexico, their tour bus stopped at an expensive tourist restaurant in a remote village. “Our group went visiting all the local kids playing on the streets and gave each child a Frisbee,” says Linda. “It was really a sight as we were on the bus leaving the village watching the air filled with all these red Frisbees and the children having so much fun.”

Linda and her family are planning another trip to Mexico with the intention of making charity a primary focus. “Everyone has been told to pack lightly because I need to fill their cases with gifts. We are taking about 100 boxes of Tylenol, since medicine is pricey, and 30 gift bags for the children including school supplies, treats, Frisbees, water, and toys and books. We have become friends with a dozen families and we take a pack for them filled with medicines, toiletries, clothes, shoes, and toys.”
