REALTOR® Raises Awareness and Dollars for Global Poverty

Vancouver, BC – Zul Jiwa, REALTOR® with Sutton Group -West Coast Realty in Vancouver, will be participating in The World Partnership Walk on May 31, 2009. Jiwa has walked this event annually since 1985 and is a strong supporter for this cause. Jiwa explains, “The Walk is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada, an organization that delivers ‘Smart Solutions’ to some of the poorest countries in Asia and Africa without regard to race, religion or origin.” He adds, “It is a non-profitable organization and every dollar that you donate goes straight to the cause.” Funds raised by the Walk are further supported by the Canadian government through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), multiplying the effect of sponsorship dollars.

“It is Canada’s largest national event that helps people in developing countries around the world,” says Jiwa. Nine cities across Canada will host the event this year; Vancouver’s is scheduled for Sunday, May 31st, at Stanley Park’s Lumberman’s Arch. The event is in its 25th year, and continues to raise funds for sound and long-term development projects that help those in developing countries break the cycle of poverty.

Jiwa was thrilled by the generosity he received for last year’s event. The Jiwa Team was the highest fundraising team in Canada, collecting more than $73,000. “To celebrate and mark this year’s Silver Jubilee of the Walk, we want to exceed last year’s total but it’s only possible with your continued support!” he declares.
