Calgary, AB – Planning began this past fall for the Calgary Sutton Real Estate Stampede Charity Golf Classic. The main objectives of the golf tournament are “to bring together the Sutton offices in Calgary and raise money for two great charities,” explains David Lem, Tournament Chair and Broker, with Sutton – Partners Realty Group. He emphasizes that this is an excellent opportunity for Sutton Calgary to join forces and work as a team. The tournament’s committee has representation from all four Sutton offices located in Calgary.

The event will be held on Thursday, July 2nd, one day before the start of the famous Calgary Stampede. “We have tied it in with the Stampede so those who are looking for the Stampede experience can enjoy both events,” David states. “We are hoping for a turn-out of 144 golfers,” he adds. Invitations will go out to Sutton REALTORS® across the country; however, the tournament is also open to members of the public. Tee-off is set for a 2pm shotgun start at the Lynx Ridge Golf Club. The round of golf will be followed by a dinner reception with fun and prizes. Lem suggests, “We want to keep it affordable, making it easy for those interested to get involved, especially in this current economic climate.”

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Horizon Housing Society will share the proceeds from the upcoming tournament. Sutton Calgary chose these charities to support two of their agents, Bob Metcalf and Wayne Thrush of Sutton – Partners Realty Group. Bob serves on the Board of Directors for the Horizon Housing Society, a charity that provides homes for those with special needs and mental illness. Wayne serves on the Board for Calgary’s Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for the disease.
