Langley, BC – Desiree McLean, REALTOR® with Sutton Group – West Coast Realty in Langley, admits, “I am a huge animal lover;” she has two cats and two dogs of her own. She explains, “I have always had big dreams of contributing to benefit animal welfare.” One way in which she has contributed is by walking in the Paws for a Cause event hosted by the BCSPCA the past two years. This is an event that takes the opportunity to raise awareness and crucial funds to help the BCSPCA care for animals in need in the community.

On Sunday, September 13, at Cresent Park in south Surrey, Desiree will be a Paws for a Cause participant once again. However, this year she has organized a group, labelled a “Pack”, which will consist of four teammates walking together along with their dogs. Desiree elaborates, “I have had good reception through my office and donations are starting to come in. An initiative that Desiree started, in January, to benefit animal welfare, is a dog group she organized using www.meetup.com, to network with other dog owners in her area. She plans events for the group of dog owners and canines like time at the dog park together and dog pool parties. She enjoys seeing dogs having the chance to socialize as this results in encouraging less aggressive behaviour in the dogs.
