Ottawa, ON – One day in the office, Jennifer Kelly, REALTOR® with Sutton Group – Premier Realty (2008) Ltd.* overheard office administrator, Sandra Lozanski speaking about the Charlebois family. The family was encountering some challenging times; the father suffers from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and were moving back to Ottawa to a home that required many modifications to accommodate for his physical handicaps.

After learning of the Charlebois’s desire to return home to Ottawa to be closer to friends and family, Jennifer wanted to help. A fundraising event for the family and ALS Society was already in the planning stages when Jennifer decided to get involved. To assist with the efforts already underway, Jennifer with the support of Alana and Donald Abraham, owners of Sutton Group – Premier Realty (2008) Ltd.*, put together a full realty package for the silent auction. The package included home staging, handyman services and professional photography. They also donated a dinner and cruise package for the live and silent auctions at the event.

The fundraiser was a success, with 300 guests attending the event at the Hotel Château Cartier in Elmer, Quebec, on August 30, 2009. With the money raised they have started renovations on the Charlebois’s home in Ottawa. They are installing a lift, building a ramp at the front entry and also adding a ramp inside the home.

Jennifer explains, “The story touched me; it is a good feeling as a REALTOR® to help families return home.” Jennifer enjoys working within her community. She co-founded the Women’s Business Group three years ago, a networking group that is dedicated to working on various charitable projects in the community.
