Burnaby, BC – Regina Dutt and John Patricelli, REALTORS® at Sutton – Centre Realty, have just wrapped up their annual holiday tradition of delivering much needed goods to the working poor and the homeless in their community. The pair have been involved, as the coordinators for the Burnaby and New Westminster areas, for eight years in the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive. The event is organized by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.

Regina and John begin planning and preparations in October for the week long event. They promote the drive to their local community by delivering posters and talking to realty offices, restaurants, schools, churches and financial institutions. At the completion of the event, the duo rent a truck to pick up all collections at the seven different drop-off locations. They then personally deliver the variety of donations including blankets, jackets, non-perishable food items and cash to The Living Room, a shelter in Vancouver’s downtown eastside.

Regina has been overwhelmed by the yearly success of the event; “It is incredible to see how it grows tremendously each year.” The event includes areas from Whistler to Chilliwack and now collects over 4,000 bags of warm winter items annually for several local charities. Over the 14 years the totals are astonishing, with over 27,000 bags of donations. John concludes, “It is part of our Christmas spirit; it is about giving to those who are less fortunate.”
