Calgary, AB – “Come out for a great day of golf, networking, dinner and prizes at the 2010 Stampede Charity Golf Tournament,” says Sutton – Partners Realty Group Broker David Lem.  Based on the success of last year’s event, which raised $8,500 for the Horizon Housing Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, organizers have doubled the registration to accommodate 144 players.  The venue will once again be the popular Lynx Ridge Golf Club.

“Our tournament on July 8 is just one day prior to the Calgary Stampede, which means that people have two great reasons to visit Calgary this July!  Last year, we had a few people from head office show up.  It’s a chance to network with other Sutton agents and we’ve also opened up the event to the public.  There will be REALTORS® from other companies, lawyers, mortgage brokers, bankers and anyone who wants to enjoy a day of golf for a good cause.  This year, all the proceeds will be donated to the Horizon Housing Society.”

This Calgary-based charitable organization provides affordable, integrated and supported homes to more than 700 tenants.  Horizon Housing Society directly owns and manages nine group homes and seven apartment buildings.  The Society promotes a mixed-use concept, supplying homes for tenants with a variety of special needs including mental illness, physical disability, families, seniors living below the poverty line and the working poor.  This type of housing helps reduce the stigma attached to a particular group and promotes community integration.
