Toronto, ON – This summer, Richard Whittaker, a REALTOR® with Sutton Group – Associates Realty Inc.*, will embark on the 600-kilometer Friends for Life bicycle rally from Toronto to Montreal.  This will be his fourth time completing this event in support of the People with AIDS Foundation (PWA).  Richard has an ambitious goal this year of raising more than $5,000 matched by a suitably ambitious and very entertaining fundraising plan.

On June 20 at 7:00 p.m., Richard will host an evening of music, dance and burlesque at the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.  Performers include musical groups: The Ruby Spirit, Carrie Chesnutt, High Heels Lo Fi, and Amanda Morra, and cabaret entertainers: Skin Tight Out of Sight and Boylesque T.O.  Richard will raffle items such as spa packages, beauty kits, and gift cards donated by clients.  Professional masseuse Leigh Moffat will provide massages and give away vouchers for free treatments at her salon.

“I hope people will join me for a great night and a great cause.  Admission is by donation so that everyone can feel welcome.  I even have a client in her seventies who is planning to see the show!”

In addition to this evening of entertainment, local businesses Southern Accent Restaurant and Desotos Restaurant are sponsoring Richard in the bike rally.  Over the past three years, he has collected more than $8,000 for PWA.  This year, he hopes to raise an additional $5,000 to assist people in need in his community.  PWA provides practical information and support services, such as a food bank and treatment programs to many of the 18,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Toronto.  Approximately one-quarter of Canada’s HIV-positive population lives in Toronto.

In preparation for the rally to Montreal, Richard bicycles almost every day for training and as an eco-friendly form of transportation.  Many of his clients share his concern for the environment by riding bicycles and seeking out REALTORS® like Richard on www.bicycleagents.com.  The website suggests that homebuyers can “experience a neighbourhood at a human scale” by walking and bicycling.
