Barbeque and Golf Tournament in support of Royal Victoria Hospital
Barrie, ON – A barbeque on June 25 and a golf tournament on July 15 give Barrie residents two opportunities to enjoy good food and company while supporting a worthy cause. This is the eighth year that Bill Kindou, Broker of Record at Sutton Group – Incentive Realty Inc.*, is hosting a golf tournament. There are still spots available for this event at the Bear Creek Golf Club. In addition to 18 holes of golf, use of a cart and dinner, each player receives a gift worth approximately $50. “I spend thousands of dollars on gifts to ensure that everyone can take home a nice memento of the day. This year, the tournament raises money for the new cancer treatment facility at the Royal Victoria Hospital.”
A new $400 million redevelopment will double the size of the existing hospital and include the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. More than 60,000 patients are expected to visit the cancer centre in its first year of operation. Since government funding is limited, the hospital relies on contributions from individuals and businesses. Bill’s goal is to raise $10,000 for the hospital expansion and equipment through the barbeque and golf tournament.
“This disease affects so many people that we felt this was an important cause to support. I lost my mother-in-law when she was 59-years-old, which was just a year before she planned to retire. She was diagnosed with cancer three months before she died. Many people I work with have friends and family who have been affected by cancer too. I just heard that a relative of my administrator has terminal brain cancer. Several years ago, one of our sales associates, Fred McColman, lost his battle with cancer. Patients used to have to travel all the way to Toronto for treatment and now it is so beneficial to have this facility in our backyard.”
Bill is hoping that an additional 20 golfers will sign up for the charity tournament to round out the roster of 144 players. Tickets are $120.
This is the first time that Sutton Group – Incentive Realty Inc.* is holding a charity barbeque in support of the Royal Victoria Hospital. The public is invited to enjoy a hotdog or hamburger fresh off the grill at 241 Minet’s Point Road from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 25.
