Sutton Offices Support the 29th Annual Edmonton Fringe Festival
St. Albert, AB – For the thirteenth year in a row, Sutton REALTORS® and Brokers in Edmonton and nearby St. Albert are proud to support the Edmonton Fringe Festival. As one of Canada’s largest live theatre events, the Edmonton Fringe Festival attracts performers and visitors from around the world. This year’s festival boasts 180 productions and 1,500 performances by local, national, international and Theatre for Young Audiences companies between August 12 and 22, 2010. Performances are scheduled to take place at dozens of venues throughout Edmonton’s Old Strathcona neighbourhood including the Sutton Real Estate Stage.
This year, the Academy at King Edward School, one of the venues for the 10-day festival, will be renamed the Sutton Real Estate Stage.
“All of the Sutton offices in the Edmonton area band together to support the Fringe and sponsor the stage,” says James Mabey, Broker at Sutton Group – Nor-Vista Realty in St. Albert. “In addition to the Sutton Real Estate Stage, we also provide event space for kids. We donate the use of three tents where kids can enjoy entertainment and play areas. The Edmonton Fringe Festival is fantastic for our community and we’re happy to be a part of it.”
Another event benefiting youth was the Crystal Kids Street Dance and Barbeque. Sutton offices in Edmonton and St. Albert sponsored the June barbeque. Sales of the donated hot dogs and hamburgers helped to raise money for the Crystal Kids Youth Centre. “It’s a safe, supportive environment for youth,” says James. “The centre offers kids an alternative to hanging out in the inner city where there is the potential to get into trouble. They participate in sports, use computers, get assistance with homework and have a nutritious meal. I was pleased to make a donation to the Crystal Kids Youth Centre on behalf of my office. In addition to the food, several REALTORS® from my office volunteered to help run the barbeque and assist with the event.”

Broker James Mabey purchased the space once the five-year lease on another property expired. “Owning the office rather than leasing, I was happy to invest more money in renovating it and choosing the finishes and materials that were exactly what we wanted.
