Surrey, BC – Who would have guessed that having a good poker face could help cancer patients?  On July 8, 2010, Sutton – Premier Realty hosted a Texas Hold ‘em poker tournament that raised $400 for the Canadian Cancer Society.  The players included Broker Larry Anderson, several REALTORS® and invited guests.  The tournament was so successful that Larry hopes to make it a monthly event benefiting various charities.  Many of these players also pitched in at the carwash and barbeque on July 17.

On the sunny, summer day, motorists lined up in the parking lot of the newly renovated Sutton – Premier Realty office to receive an old-fashioned hand carwash and burgers hot off the grill.  Tori Kersey, a REALTOR® at Sutton – Premier Realty and a member of the Chris Shields Home Selling Team, notes that the carwash and barbeque were complimentary, explaining: “We believe in giving back!”

In addition to wonderful weather, Tori attributes the strong public turnout to planning and teamwork.  “There was a ton of preparation involved in getting ready for these events and everyone stepped up to the plate!  Sutton – Premier Realty associates washed cars and flipped burgers as they chatted with clients and the public.  Just seeing the group working so well together and having fun was perfect.”

“I believe that people in the community were pleased to see REALTORS® getting creative to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause,” says Tori.  “Our team really pulled together to make the poker tournament, carwash and barbeque happen.  We had an enormous amount of fun doing them, so you can most definitely expect to see more events in the near future!”
