Stampede Golf Tournament Raises $8,000 for Horizon Housing
Calgary, AB – The Second Annual Stampede Golf Tournament raised approximately $8,000 for Horizon Housing Society, a charitable organization that provides affordable, integrated and supported homes to more than 700 tenants. The event attracted 80 golfers, donations of 15 prizes for the silent auction and sponsors for each hole on the 18-hole course. David Lem, Broker at Sutton – Partners Realty Group and one of the organizers of the tournament since its inception, was pleased to see the healthy turnout and networking opportunities for REALTORS®.
“Any day that people can enjoy golfing with nice summer weather, have fun, meet people and also raise several thousand dollars for a worthwhile cause, is a success,” says David. “Everyone received a prize. Also, 15 silent auction items raised $1,700.”

Next year’s tournament may be a two-day event. “We would like to encourage more out of town players. We’re looking into discounts on hotel rooms and Stampede tickets, and perhaps arranging another day of golf at another prestigious course.”
The tournament was organized and hosted by all four Sutton offices in Calgary: Sutton Group – Canwest (Hawkwood Boulevard N.W. and Lake Bonavista Drive S.E. locations), Sutton Group – Altawest and Sutton – Partners Realty Group.
Horizon Housing Society owns and manages nine group homes and seven apartment buildings. These provide homes to tenants with special needs including mental illness, physical disability, families, seniors living below the poverty line and the working poor.
