Toronto, ON – With 37 years of membership in the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) and work on several committees and task forces for TREB and the Real Estate Council of Ontario, Ann Hannah, Broker of Record for Sutton Group – Old Mill Realty Inc.*, is hoping to win members’ support in the upcoming TREB Presidential election.  Her depth and range of experience has given her both historical perspective and up-to-date knowledge of current issues affecting the profession including technology (e.g., social media and electronic data protection), the environment, and government regulations.

“Our members must adapt to an extremely competitive, complex and rapidly changing marketplace,” says Ann.  “They must respond to increasing customer demand with dynamic and flexible business models and technologies.  I will continue to encourage and promote the value of the REALTOR® in society…. I recognize that for our Association to thrive, it is imperative to maintain an orderly process and arrive at a consensus with other Directors.”

Ann has identified some key concerns within the industry.  “Data security and data sharing are important issues that TREB is addressing.  MLS data is our life blood; it is real time.  Through our MLS system, we know property sale prices immediately rather than waiting for closing in Land Registry as is the case in some jurisdictions.”

“We must have a strong and committed Government Relations Committee lobby to pursue issues and seek positive changes that affect our Members.  We must encourage and help strengthen OREA and CREA lobbies to fight for our causes.”  She also intends to continue to work on behalf of members in dealings with the Competition Bureau, to provide tools that allow REALTORS® to keep pace with social media and other technologies as well as enhance the outreach education sessions.

As President, Ann would move forward on several initiatives including redistricting (replacing old MLS districts with more recognizable community names), ‘green’ initiatives and education for REALTORS®.  She would support incentives for consumers adopting energy-saving renovations, provide regular economic commentaries by Jason Mercer, TREB’s Senior Manager of Market Analysis, and support and encourage the use of Touchbase and the Buyer Registry by the members.  For details about Ann and three ways to vote for her, please visit: www.electannhannah.com.
