London, ON – Continuing their tradition of generosity, Dan Grantham and Renald Guindon of Sutton Group – Preferred Realty Inc.* have given a portion of their commissions to charities.  In 2011, they donated $9,500 to 12 non-profit organizations bringing the 10-year total to an impressive $100,500.  Their gifts have touched many people including those struggling with heart disease, stroke, cancer, poverty and natural disasters and provided valuable opportunities to children in need.  They have even helped to save the lives of homeless animals.

Renald and Dan make a charitable donation each time they make a sale.  The charity is chosen by the client.  “It’s a win, win, win situation,” says Dan.  “The charity gets the money, our clients choose the cause and we feel good doing our part.”

Their motivation is straightforward: “We believe in giving back to the community in which we make our living,” says Renald.

In 2011, they assisted Mission Services, Boys & Girls Club, Canadian Cancer Society, Children’s Health Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Hospice of London, London Humane Society, MS Society, Women’s Community House and Youth Opportunities Unlimited.

In selecting the 12 organizations, Dan and Renald considered their own affiliations and looked to their clients for direction.  “These are the charities most frequently requested by our clients,” says Renald.  “Clients can now choose from a list of 12 organizations.  We submit the donations quarterly to each charity.”

In 2004, the pair received the London and St. Thomas Real Estate Board’s Community Service Award, partly due to their Donations Program.
