Sutton - Premier Realty joins in basketball tournament at a local elementary school

Surrey, BC – Every day, some children in B.C. go to school hungry and the lack of nutrition affects their physical, social and intellectual development. Sutton - Premier Realty is helping to build brighter futures. On March 10, 2017, they donated $350 in Superstore gift cards to Harold Bishop Elementary School (and stayed for fun on the basketball court). The counsellors and teachers will determine which students are currently most in need then distribute the gift cards to their parents.

“Our office is just down the street from the elementary school and a few years ago, we sponsored a soccer tournament for 60 Grade 5 and 6 students,” says Broker Larry Anderson. “This year, we wanted to do more, so we contacted the principal and he told me what they needed. We decided to dedicate a portion of our fundraising efforts to directly help students.”

Representatives from Sutton - Premier Realty were invited to join in a special basketball tournament on their visit. Larry Anderson and Sutton REALTORS® Jeremy Delos Santos and Razaik Cheema teamed up with teachers and RCMP officers for a friendly competition with students. It was fast-paced with a new game every three minutes, switching in five students each time to give more than 60 students a chance to play.

“There is a moment when you realize you’re not as young as you use to be,” Larry mused on Facebook following the games. “We played against 12 teams, three minute games with only two subs. Those kids don’t get tired, omg. Can you say Advil.”

This event at Harold Bishop Elementary School is designed to boost student fitness. It is held every few months and each time the sport is different. Manny Sraw, Office Administrator at Sutton - Premier Realty, is happy to note that her office has an invitation to return for a badminton tournament in April.
