Ed’s deep connection with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation began with a personal struggle that started at the age of 19. Confronted with a debilitating anxiety disorder and subsequent depression, Ed faced a battle that many know all too well. Finding the right support was challenging due to long waitlists and a lack of specialized care at the time. In his early twenties, Ed turned to alcohol to manage his anxiety, leading to a struggle with alcoholism. On his 25th birthday, Ed quit drinking and sought professional help, which ultimately brought him to St. Joseph’s Healthcare.
Ed describes his experience with the foundation as life-saving, crediting the skilled doctors and mental health professionals at St. Joseph’s for helping him regain his well-being and find a path to recovery. “If it weren’t for the support I received from St. Joe’s, I wouldn’t be here today,” Ed shares. The comprehensive care provided by the foundation allowed him to get off medication and receive the tools and support he needed to manage his mental health effectively.
This profound impact motivated Ed to start giving back. About 15 years ago, just a few years into his real estate career, Ed decided to donate a portion of each sale to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. His commitment to mental health awareness is also reflected in his business signage: beneath every ‘For Sale’ sign, Ed includes the foundation’s logo and a message promoting mental health support, aiming to inspire conversations and encourage those in need to seek help.
