Final Sutton Spirit Draw of 2021

CANADA – Tis the season to assist your neighbours in need, the environment, wildlife, or any good cause that interests you. When you do, contact Sutton Spirit with your news and you will be entered into our next $100 Sutton Spirit draw on December 24, 2021.

Are you looking for inspiration? Consider the following opportunities, some of which have a housing focus:

This year, REALTORS Care® Week will take place from November 15–21. Members from more than 70 real estate boards and associations in every province will volunteer their time in support of housing and shelter-related charities. Check with your Broker or real estate board to find out how you can get involved.

The Homes for Heroes Foundation aims to provide shelter to an estimated 2,500 Canadian Armed Forces members who are homeless. It can be challenging for veterans to reintegrate into civilian life, find homes and build new careers. The first Homes for Heroes village in Calgary now provides 15 tiny homes. Donations, fundraisers and materials are needed to establish villages in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and the Maritimes. To learn more, visit www.homesforheroesfoundation.ca.

This is the season when storms and floods displace people from their homes and the Canadian Red Cross steps up to provide shelter, food and clothing. This volunteer-based organization was founded in 1896 to provide disaster relief and humanitarian services. To volunteer or donate, please visit www.redcross.ca.

Would you like to pitch in to build a home for children in a low-income family? Habitat for Humanity organizes projects across Canada and is often in need of building materials and volunteers. To learn more, visit www.habitat.ca.

According to Food Banks Canada, by far the biggest challenge faced by food banks since COVID-19 began is a lack of volunteers to sort and distribute food. Learn more at www.foodbankscanada.ca.

From the wilderness to the boardroom, Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Conservation Volunteers program engages people of all ages to protect our country's species and natural habitats. In addition to outdoor activities, this organization offers webinars, family outing ideas and virtual hikes through their site: www.natureconservancy.ca.

If you participate in these or any other projects, please contact Sutton Spirit at lharrison@sutton.com or stories@suttonspirit.com. Share your news and inspire others!
