SK – Would you like to expand your network and professional skills as you improve your community? In as little as two hours, you can make a real difference by connecting pets and people, planning a city-wide scavenger hunt, being hero in a crisis, or protecting wildlife. Socialize and have a memorable experience through these unique opportunities:

Be a Pet Therapy volunteer. For more than 30 years, the Regina Humane Society’s Pet Therapy program has matched friendly cats, dogs, and rabbits from the shelter with volunteers to visit senior care homes and rehabilitation facilities. The animals benefit from increased positive human contact, while the residents experience improved physical and mental well-being. To learn more, visit: https://reginahumanesociety.ca.

On October 17, 2021, Quest4CF is coming to Regina. For this Halloween-themed, scavenger hunt, families register their carload and are given clues that lead to different businesses and landmarks around the city. At each location, children receive prizes and candy. Cystic Fibrosis Canada is looking for volunteers to help coordinate this event. Quest4CF Planning Committee members will attend a few virtual meetings, brainstorm ideas, and organize prizes. This is a low-commitment and flexible opportunity. For details, please email the coordinator: saskinfo@cysticfibrosis.ca

The Canadian Red Cross always needs Emergency Management volunteers to be trained and ready to respond in a crisis. The Red Cross also runs social programs. For example, volunteers with the Friendly Calls program maintain regular telephone contact with socially isolated community members. View the opportunities online

Results Canada has been advocating to end extreme poverty for decades since it launched in Calgary in 1986. At that time, 36% of the world was living in extreme poverty. By 2015 that number dropped to 10%. Canadians are part of the solution. Learn more about volunteering: https://resultscanada.ca/what-volunteers-do-at-results-canada/.

Nature Saskatchewan is looking for volunteers to serve on their Board of Directors, be stewards of a nature sanctuary, participate as a community scientist in the PlantWatch program and assist with events. View the opportunities online.
