A Legacy of Generosity
Oakville, ON – Congratulations to Kirk Fournier, Oakville’s second most generous agent for 2022 (his mother Wilma earned first place) and the 15th most generous agent in Canada. The Top Giving Agent distinction is an initiative of Rate My Agent, which ranks REALTORS® across the nation and requires copies of official charitable receipts.
Kirk gives to many charities including World Vision, the Canada - Ukraine Foundation, Terry Fox Foundation, SickKids, Coldest Night of the Year, and more. In 2022, Kirk also established a scholarship at the high school he attended. He gives $1,000 per year split equally between a male and a female student.
This scholarship is something Kirk began planning in his mid-20s. Encouraging higher education is central to his legacy. “I’ve been planning for my death,” he laughs. “That’s the reason why I have investment properties. I bought my first one a decade ago because I want to leave something behind that would support a charitable cause.”
He eventually purchased three townhouses. “These properties aren’t creating a huge cashflow now,” he notes, “but they will when the mortgages are paid off. At some point in the future, the scholarships could be $30,000 or more because of these three properties.”
Owning rental properties has allowed him to build on his education. Kirk graduated from Ryerson University with a major in Finance and a minor in Marketing. “Now my specialty is helping people with their real estate investments. I have a large number of clients who have similar investments that I helped them purchase and manage.”
Kirk admits that real estate was so absorbing that he almost didn’t complete university. “I joined the Wilma Fournier team when I was around 20 years old. We were so busy I almost didn’t finish my degree in Finance.” Afterwards, Kirk joined the team fulltime and obtained his real estate license when he was only 23.
Kirk’s family and faith inspire him. His mother, father and sister are all REALTORS® with unique skillsets. His mother is a talented negotiator with years in the business; his father trained as a Mechanical Engineer with experience in construction, renovation, plumbing, etc.; and his sister Holly, a trained interior designer, can help clients stage their properties.
