Feeding Families this Holiday Season

Surrey, B.C – Wild winter weather and record cold temperatures could not put the freeze on Sutton - Premier Realty’s holiday spirit! A few days before Christmas, they slid down the chimney at the Surrey Food Bank with a cheque for $2,900 and two boxes full of non-perishable groceries donated by REALTORS® and staff.
“We are always so proud of the generosity of our Sutton Premier family,” says Owner Larry Anderson.
“Five times this year, our associates dropped off groceries and volunteered at the Surrey Food Bank. We’ve been doing this for a decade.”
Their holiday tradition previously had involved adopting families through the Surrey Christmas Bureau. The team would buy gifts on the children’s wish lists and fill hampers full of treats, turkey and all the fixings for a Christmas feast, then personally deliver them.
“This year, we decided on the Surrey Food Bank because recently, each time our agents volunteered, they came back letting us know how the food bank was more in need than ever,” Larry notes.
“With inflation so high, the cost of groceries, gas and all essential items are at a 30-year high. We see families struggling and the food bank seemed to be stretched to their limit, so we wanted to help.”
The team focused on cash donations since the charity usually receives discounts from grocers giving it greater buying power than individual shoppers.
The Surrey Food Bank receives no core government funding, so it relies on donations as well as volunteers like the team from Sutton – Premier Realty to help to sort and distribute items to clients.
