A Year of Triumphs
CANADA – As we wrap up an unprecedented year, it’s time to celebrate the many Sutton sales associates, brokers and staff who brought joy and hope to others.
Turning passion into community action, Laura McBride created the Edible Classroom project for elementary school students. Rhonda Grant, Brandon Grant, and Jamie O'Leary organized a golf tournament to raise funds to save injured animals at the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre.
Colin Zappia combined his love of hockey (he has served as a television host and analyst) with a score-based donation system benefiting the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Jane Logan donated to Hope Air and applied her business expertise to inspiring their national, online auction. Edith Hancock served on a board and donated her own paintings to support music and dance classes for children.
Canadians experienced a rapidly rising cost of living and Sutton agents stepped up. Ron Torres, Nissa Clarkson, Dee Soriano, and Dilma and Candice Hortelano hosted client appreciation events that generated food bank donations sufficient to feed 100 families. Lisa Ashcroft collected warm winter clothing for Covenant House. Hundreds of Sutton members, including Baljit S. Sandhu, participated in the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive. Kuljit Minhas and Manraj Minhas collected $30,000 for a food bank. Heather McDowell donated a portion of each real estate transaction to shelter people in need. Sutton Group – Select Realty Inc. filled backpacks with school supplies for underprivileged students.
The world watched in shock as bombs began raining on Ukraine and Sutton members responded. Many donated to international aid organizations such as the Red Cross. Carole Palmer in Ontario and Bob McVicar in New Brunswick opened their homes to families from Ukraine. Angie Esplen in Manitoba donated and performed traditional Ukrainian dances.
Warm weather arrived bringing new hope. David Eng volunteered at several sporting and community events. Using his extensive Search and Rescue training, Ken Welte was able to assist a fellow hiker on the West Coast Trail. Corwin Kwan planted trees in a city park and on Mother’s Day, he handed out flowers. Gerry Lantaigne painted canoes with scenes of Muskoka’s beauty to raise money for a local hospice. Sutton - Premier Realty, a major food bank supporter, organized a baseball tournament.
Bill and Michelle Kindou, Thomas Hu, Mandana Tehrani, Sue Gordon, Shawn Fang, Carol Chen, and the team at Sutton Group Right Way Real Estate contributed to improving healthcare services. Sutton Group - First Choice Realty Ltd. celebrated their community’s diversity by contributing to a new rainbow crosswalk.
