Oddibles Concert Benefits JDRF
Oakville, ON – Mark Cadesky is a Broker who moonlights with a local band called the Oddibles. This past week, the group put on an incredible show at the Shore in Port Credit raising more than $800 for JDRF, a charity focused on improving life for people with diabetes.
“The event turned out to be a great success,” says Mark, the band’s lead singer. “The other agents loved getting together in a social environment, and really enjoyed having a beer, sharing a few laughs, and rocking out.
“A couple of my bandmates are also REALTORS® with other companies, and they had some of their colleagues there, too. It was great to see the real estate community coming together like that to support JDRF and the band.”
Combining his love of music with philanthropy was important to Mark. “We charged $10, which wasn't a large amount, but was an amount that enabled people to give back and not feel pressured. Of course, they were free to give more if they wanted (which some did). When deciding on which charity to support with this performance, I realized that several people at Sutton Quantum are personally affected or have a friend or loved one with diabetes, so it was an easy choice."
The crowd was on their feet as the band performed a wide range of material including classic rock and hits from the 60’s to today. Some favourites were CCR, Bruno Mars, Peter Gabriel, Styx, Sting, and others. “We'd love to start doing more regular gigs at bars, etc. now that we have a repertoire large enough to play for over three hours.”
The Oddibles got together about four years ago, just around the time that COVID was starting. After the restrictions lifted, the band was eager to perform for audiences and so far, all their performances have supported charities. Mark recalls a memorable venue: “We played outdoors a few times at a community centre that puts on a huge fundraising event that attracts over a thousand people.”
